We can all work from home!
Today, Linda has some interesting things to say about how we work, here at Envision, and how a very different work style has become part of our environmental profile. She also talks about our quarterly client carbon offset program. I think you’ll find her post to be pretty interesting.

My daughter Vanessa, pictured here, just entered the work force last month by securing an internship at a thriving new start-up that sells discounted movie tickets. She works in Customer Service handling email and live chat with members. She solves problems like being charged incorrectly or wanting to change their membership packages. Sometimes, their discount codes are not working correctly. She goes to work on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Last Thursday, she was at home. She filled me in, via IM chat, mentioning that on her day off she was actually working. To quote her “It’s funny because technically we could all work from home, I am communicating with my co-workers right now! I reminded her that I have worked for a virtual company for almost 12 years!
To those of you used to going into work every day to an actual office building, it might be hard to imagine what the professional world of Envision Technology Marketing Group is like. Conversely, we here at ETMG cannot imagine your world either. From a financial perspective, why not? We save loads of money on office rent, utilities, and maintenance. We save money on office attire (we are proud to say we often work in our jammies). We save money on food since most of us just walk a few paces to the kitchen when we are hungry, we save wear and tear on our cars, and we are doing our small part to save the environment!
We were green before green was fashionable and now that it is more than fashionable, we have been certified as a “green” company. But in the end we can claim that we are 100% carbon neutral, based on our partnership with carbonfund.org. We calculate the carbon emissions that come from our work (the carbon fund helps us make that calculation), and then, as part of our operational budget, we purchase carbon credits to take our operations carbon neutral. Taking it one step further, for every PO that we receive from our clients, we purchase carbon offsets on their behalf. Today, for Q3, 2010, we just purchased 27.5 TONS of CO2 emissions offsets, which go directly to fighting the battle against global warming. For more information on our how it works check out our “Green” paper pdf.
So open a PO with ETMG and help save the world and if you are looking for a cheap movie, send an email to my daughter!
